- Switch your light bulbs over to CFLs
- If you’re buying a new appliance, make sure it has the Energy Star label
- Stop using disposable bags. Invest in a few reusable bags for your groceries and other shopping
- Wash your laundry in cold water instead of hot water
- Combine all of your errands in to one trip, and bike to your destination if it’s less than 2 miles
- Completely shut down your computer at night
- Try signing up for online bill pay- not only will you save paper, but you won’t need to spare the stamp!
- Fix any leaky faucets in your house
- When it’s nice outside, line-dry your clothes instead of putting them in the dryer
- Unplug unused appliances and phone chargers
- Invest in a rain barrel to collect water to water your plants instead of using the hose
- Use cloth napkins instead of paper napkins
- Donate any unwanted items to thrift stores instead of throwing them away- your trash is another person’s treasure!
